Courses will be filled on the first registered and first served basis. Payments will be made to the instructor on the first night of class. The cost of the course is based on the number of weeks the course meets and whether the student is from Amherst or Mont Vernon or lives out of the school district.  All courses and workshops will meet at Souhegan High School - 412 Boston Post Road, Amherst, NH 03031 603-673-9940 ext. 0

Friday:

The Senior Seminar "Film in Society" will present a series of classic films again this year for the community to view and enjoy. The films are chosen for their merit and significance in the history of American film. All showings take place in the Souhegan Theater and begin at 7:30pm Admission is free and film notes written by the students in the seminar will be provided.

Course Descriptions:

Monday

Body Soul Rhythms(Yoga)(Kripalu Danskinetics)
A unique approach to movement combining yoga and dance. It is sometimes wild and filled with abandon and sometimes quiet and graceful. You will feel what it is like to be at home with your body; recognizing your body, mind and spirit as vehicles for spontaneous, blissful self-expression. Special benefits include discovering the unique dancer you already are (no partner necessary no experience necessary). You will tone muscles, build flexibility, endurance and cardiovascular fitness. Instructor - Gloria Bry - Gloria has been integrating body, mind and soul experiences for over ten years. In her Danskinetics classes she has a fun, joyful, energetic approach to dance and movement that allows you to reach for the deeper source of energy within as you revel in the celebration of life. Starting Jan. 28th on Mondays 6 - 7:30 for 8 weeks. Costs $65 for residents $70 for non residents

Tuesdays

Watercolor Painting
Kevin Dadoly instructs this popular studio course teaching to the individual needs of students the skills, techniques, attitudes, and processes of watercolor painting. Starting Jan. 29th 7-9pm 6 Weeks Cost: $60 residents $70 non-residents.

Wednesdays

Pottery Studio
8 weeks of studio experience creating with clay. Pinch, coil, and slab construction as well as wheel throwing. Decorative glaze and texturing techniques will be explored. Instructor, Mary Salmon 8 weeks starting Wednesday March 5th. 7-9pm. Classes will be taught in the Ceramics studio at Souhegan H.S, ($80 resident /$90 non resident) plus a small materials fee.

Thursday

Cook Better, Eat Better! Cooking Without Recipes Free yourself and improve your cooking! Master basic techniques and proportions, learn about the properties of different foods and ingredients, and you can cook anything. This new offering will run for three hours, and be hands-on. You learn best by doing, so together we will make soups, main courses, sauces, sides, and a dessert or two. The instructor is Elizabeth Skipper, an accomplished personal chef and culinary teacher, of The Everyday Epicure. Cost per person $90 for residents of Amherst & Mont Vernon and district employees and $105 for others plus a lab fee for ingredients. Instruction will be in the cooking lab at Souhegan High School from 6:00-9:00pm Classes begin on January 31st and will run weekly for 6 weeks, with a break during winter recess.
