This is the third year for the Global Ethics division of the Institute.
The division was created in order to work towards developing a
more just and sustainable world by educating students, our future
leaders, about international events and contemporary ethical
debates. After the success of the Global Ethics division in previous
summers, we have chosen to keep the theme of the seminar the
same, however the material covered will be expanded in order to
expose students to applications of the theories they study and
examining case studies of the issues at hand.

Since the year 2005 in particular, Poverty, Wealth & the
Environment, our chosen theme, has received increased attention
from people all over the world, of every status. In this light, we
decided they would be key issues to discuss with students in the
Institute. In studying this theme, students will not only learn about
these issues, but also the philosophical and ethical theory
surrounding them. Students will further learn about applying these
theories in order to work towards combating these issues.

Unlike the European Studies division, the Global Ethics division
only has one course in which a student can enroll. However, if a
student would like to take more than one elective Global Ethics may
be combined with another division's elective. Furthermore, students
are automatically enrolled in the How to Read & Write Like a
College Professor class, and while it is not required of students to
attend, it is highly recommended that they do.

Completing one elective earns the student 1/6 of an elective credit.
Completing at least two electives earns the student 1/3 of an
elective credit. The credits for the Global Ethics division of the
Institute are designated as social studies credits.
