Title I Program

 

Title I is a 100% federally funded supplemental educational program that provides assistance to local educational agencies to improve opportunities for students at risk and students who are not meeting the State of NH performance standards.  MVVS is a targeted assisted school (TAS).  A TAS is required to use funds only for programs that provide services to eligible children identified as having the greatest need for additional assistance. 

Throughout the school year, Title I uses programs which are designed to help children meet the State content and performance standards in reading, language arts, and mathematics.  The goal of Title I is to improve learning so that students meet the standards that all children are expected to master.  Title I children are tutored in the classroom in collaboration with the teacher and other times, are seen one-on-one or in small groups in the Title I room.  Students are not taken from their regular classroom during direct teaching time.

·   Monthly Newsletter and Calendar- Parents Make the Difference.

·   Family Frog Games-at home learning games for parent and child.

·   Lending Library-books for parents and students.

·   Reading Challenges- incentives for students.

·   Parental Advisory Committee-each year, Title I develops a committee consisting of parent volunteers, tutors, a teacher, and school principal to review Title I policy and student compact.

·   Make It Take It Nights- a fun night of pizza in which parents and their children make learning games to take home!
