Mont Vernon Village School May 9, 2008 SAU #39 Mission: We will engage, support, and challenge all learners.
Dear Parents and Guardians, MVVS has done it—achieved one million minutes of reading and beat the town of Mont Vernon! We will celebrate this accomplishment during next Tuesday afternoon (May 13th) with a special, surprise event. Students are asked to wear comfortable clothes and walking footwear and to dress to be outside rain or shine. Parent volunteers are needed from 1-3 that afternoon, and you can call the school office or e-mail me to volunteer. We will conclude the afternoon with an awards assembly recognizing some of our top readers. That evening we will also host our literature festival, and individual student work will be on display in the MPR, on bulletin boards, in the computer lab, and in the library. The literature festival will fun from 5-7 that evening, and we hope you can stop in during some portion to see all of the great pieces created by students this year. Our sixth graders will return this afternoon from a fabulous week at Stone Environmental Camp in East Madison, NH. We can count on them having lots of songs and stories to share and hope they can continue the conservation methods they have learned such as their “zero waste” practices at meal times and their 3minute or less showers. Mont Vernon Spring Gala is next weekend. An application for the Spring Gala fun run is on the back of this newsletter if you are receiving a paper copy or attached if you are receiving an electronic copy. All monies raised will go to the McKayla Geisinger fund. I hope to see you there! Welcome to Mrs. Gail Westergren who will take over the MVVS Principal position on July 1st. I know she is taking over a terrific school!
Happy Mother’s Day weekend!
Sincerely, Meredith Nadeau
