Mont Vernon Village School November 16, 2007 SAU #39 Mission: We will engage, support, and challenge all learners.
Dear Parents and Guardians, I hope you and your families enjoyed the long weekend and were able to take a moment to acknowledge Veteran’s Day. Thanksgiving is less than a week away, and there is much to be thankful for here at the Village School. We have good-hearted, conscientious, and talented children; we have an incredible, hard-working staff who are dedicated to the students with whom they work; we have involved and supportive parents and guardians who are true partners in their children’s education; we have a vibrant community with citizens and volunteers who share their gifts and resources with us. I extend my thanks to all of you for your part in enriching our learning community. Although we had a small turnout at our parent math night (I suspect many of you were gearing up for the World Series game), our math consultant, Loren Hallett, was able to share some information about the Everyday Math program and answer questions of those in attendance. As some of those in attendance asked for additional resources for home, earlier this week, a notice was sent home to parents offering the opportunity to purchase an Everyday Math games CD or deck of cards. (If you did not receive one or have questions, you can contact Loren. In addition, here are links for several math websites which may be of interest to you and your child. As content on any website may change from one day to the next, I encourage you to preview any site to determine whether or not you wish to have your child visit it. Please include a note in the “re.” line asking to be added to our e-mail lists. Lastly, we hope you can join us for... Strategies That Work - A Parent Workshop on Reading ComprehensionThursday, November 29th from 6:30-8 P.M. Our Library at the Mont Vernon Village School This year the teachers and support staff at the Mont Vernon Village School are focusing on teaching thinking strategies that will help your child become a more engaged, thoughtful, and independent reader. This is your chance to explore the six reading strategies through fun, hands-on activities. This is a wonderful opportunity to work collaboratively with other parents and gain greater insight and understanding about the mysteries of reading! R.S.V.P. Main Office 673-5141 or email Ms. A.
