Million Minutes Challenge

I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.
Jorge Luis Borges

The MVVS Literacy Team is pleased to announce a village-wide competition to be held throughout our school year. Our goal is to have our students at MVVS read One Million Minutes! The team is comprised of members of the school staff, staff from the Daland Memorial Library, PTA members and community members who join with us in heralding the importance of literacy in our everyday lives.

All reading counts!

Reading in class, by yourself at home, being read to, reading to each other, attending a library read aloud—all these are wonderful activities. We encourage the devouring of all sorts of reading materials and genres: fiction, non-fiction, magazines, newspapers.

The community-at-large is encouraged to compete, too. The Daland Memorial Library team, (our partners in this quest), will be tracking the progress of our town readers.

Who will reach the million minutes first? MVVS students or the townspeople?

We’ll be marking the 250,000, 500,000 and 750,000 words milestones with some very special celebrations for our students and the community.

More information and the tracking froms will be sent home with the students. Visit the  library to enter as a community participant.
