Monarch Butterfly Facts~
The monarch butterfly only flies during the day.
When it rains, the butterfly stays dry, hidden under leaves.
The butterfly migrates to warmer climates.
It flies to where its ancestors have gone and sometimes to the same tree!
The monarch butterfly will rest at night in trees along the way.
At times, there can be over 1,000 butterflies traveling together.
The monarch butterfly can fly as high as 2,000 feet.
Its wing span can spread to 3 1/2 inches.
Mexico has many nature reserves where monarch butterflies spend the winter.
California also has many monarch butterflies!
