Homework Assignments - September 20, 2010

Homework begins this week. Look for a yellow homework folder (girls) or a blue homework folder (boys). The homework folder contains a skills packet and two games that can be used as optional activities. Also look for this week's spelling words to be practiced daily.

Reading

• Reading for Pleasure. Read for at least 10 minutes each night, Monday-Thursday.

• Short vowel phonics review and Sentence completion.

Spelling

•  New Pattern: CVCe silent e words

New Words  

• Core Words:    tune, page, nose, space, size, fine, mice, late, cube, blaze, vote

• Challenge words: erase, spice, confuse     

Math

• Math homework reinforces the skills of doubles (1+1, 2+2, etc) and doubles plus 1 (1+2, 2+3, etc.) We will continue to work on automaticity of facts and number sense using those facts.

 Parents

• Please record, or have your child record, what your child did each day on the monthly calendar. Parents must initial each day. Homework folders should be returned to school each Friday.
