 Clark/Wilkins Library Program

Our school libraries serve an important part in the Clark/Wilkins educational program.  Each student visits the library once a week for a 40 minute library period.  This time is used for stories, planned library activities, and book exchange.  All books are checked out for one week, but can be renewed. The school libraries are automated to allow for easy circulation of all library materials to both students and staff. No overdue fines are charged, but prompt book return is always encouraged.  Payment is required for damaged and lost books.

The library has a planned curriculum of study that has specific goals and activities designed for each grade level.  A few of these activities include the study of the Randolph Caldecott Award, the John Newbery Award, and the Coretta Scott King Award.  Other studies focus on fairy tales, folktales, tall tales, research with books and technology, library organization, and the enjoyment of books and stories of many popular authors.

Several special library events in the coming school year will include the Book Fair in November and May, a November collection of food for SHARE, a special National Library Week celebration in the spring, and the Writing Festival in May with a visit from a children's author/illustrator.  Check our Clark/Wilkins weekly and monthly newsletters for coming library events.
