Why We Need Music

The Wilkins School music program is based on the fact that music is an academic discipline which has a language of its own;  therefore, music is an essential part of the balanced curriculum.  The discipline learned in music transfers and supports classroom learning in all areas.  In particular, music supports learning in areas such as spatial relationship, sequencing, logical thinking, language development, and creative expression.  Most importantly music at Wilkins rocks!

Music Chant

Music meets once a week,
Where we move and sing to beat.
Play xylophones and glockenspiels too,
Drums, recorders and maybe a kazoo.
Sing together in harmony and rounds,
Explore the world with exciting sounds.
Dance and move and have lots of fun,
Music success for everyone!
